5 Resons not to buy from a supermarket. At Cakish I am all about making special events just that - Special. I believe a special occasion deserves a special cake! I appreciate that supermarkets are quick, easy and cheap. But before you head off to a cake aisle take a quick read of my 5 reasons not to buy your next birthday cake from a supermarket!
1) Bespoke tastes better!
A fresh cake will always taste better then mass produced cakes hands down. Supermarket cakes are full of addictives and preservatives to ensure that can be kept on the shelves for as long as possible. Cakish cakes are baked fresh to order using fresh ingredients. You can always choose your flavour. You don't get that at a supermarket.
2) It's not personal
When you purchase a cake from a supermarket you have limited choice. Therefore will end up with a cake every kid in class had at their party. Bespoke celebration cakes are so much more than just writing a name on a cake. Bespoke cakes are just that, no two are the same!
3) Value
Supermarket may appear to be cheaper BUT they don't actually represent value for money. They are very cheaply mass produced with usually poor quality results and the mark up is huge. Bespoke cakes are more expensive but they are better value. Bespoke cakes take a lot of time and attention to detail and the result is one of a kind.
4)Everyone will talk about it ( and not in a good way)
Cakes are an important part of any celebration. The blowing out of candles is one of the most photographed part of the party. You want people talking about how amazing the cake was. You don't want your centrepiece to be the same as everybody else's. Have a cake people remember for all the good reasons.
5) It's missing a vital ingredient - Love!
Ok i get this one may be a bit cliche but it's true. When you order a bespoke cake, someone has spent time a considerable amount of time planning and working hard on it. A personalised hand crafted cake is a work of art - well at least untill its eaten.
Next time you're tempted to stop at the supermarket think about the person you are buying for. A little time and effort and your guests will enjoy a cake that tastes really good, is personalised, grabs everyones attention and is made with love!
